New York Women's Foundation Awards Grants Totaling $1.6 Million

The New York Women's Foundation has announced grants totaling $1.6 million to twenty-five nonprofit organizations working to promote economic security and justice for women and families in New York City.

Awarded in the foundation's core focus areas of economic security, anti-violence and safety, health, sexual rights, and reproductive justice, the grants will support girls, young women, and gender-fluid youth of color; bolster emerging grassroots organizations serving historically underinvested communities; create place-based solutions designed to improve safety and security; and strengthening efforts to end the sexual exploitation of girls and transgender youth in the city.

Grants of $60,000 each were awarded to Covenant House New York, in support of its anti-human trafficking program; the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, in support of the New York Latina Advocacy Network; NICE (New Immigrant Community Empowerment), for general operating support; and VOCAL-NY (Voices of Community Activists and Leaders), in support of the organization's civil rights and housing organizing efforts.
