Rotary, USAID to provide $5 million for Italy's COVID-19 recovery

Rotary International has announced a $5 million commitment from the U.S. Agency for International Development in support of COVID-19 response and recovery efforts in Italy.

As part of an eighteen-month partnership, USAID will provide funding to the Rotary Foundation, Rotary's philanthropic arm, to help support Italy's pandemic response, prepare communities for future outbreaks, and address the long-term social and economic impacts of the pandemic. Italy's thirteen regional Rotary districts will be eligible to apply for $100,000 grants that can be used to purchase medical equipment, supplies needed by businesses to remain open safely, and educational supplies and equipment for schools, students, and families.

"As we are part of the communities we serve, Rotary is dedicated to helping Italy and the world recover from this pandemic," said Rotary project lead Giulio Koch. "Our collaboration with USAID will provide us with valuable resources and expertise to help make our initiatives more impactful and sustainable."

"Rotary and the U.S. government support Italy's fight against COVID-19." Rotary International press release 12/04/2020.
