The largest gift ever to MVHS will support services for the new regional medical center — which will consolidate the area's two aging acute-care hospitals — and enable MVHS to invest in innovation, technology, and services. Scheduled to be completed in 2023, the 703,000-square-foot, ten-story facility on a twenty-five-acre campus will include a surgical center, a cardiac care center, a neurosciences institute, a center for women's and children's services, and an emergency department with sixty-three treatment rooms and specialized care for trauma, behavioral health, and other emergent and lifesaving needs. The gift also will help provide private patient rooms and expand residency programs to psychiatry, OB/GYN, emergency medicine, and general surgery. In recognition of the gift, the medical center will be named the Wynn Hospital of MVHS.
"This is our way of giving back to the people of the Mohawk Valley," said Wynn Family Foundation board chair Stephen A. Wynn, who grew up in Utica. "At the same time, we are committed to advancing health care through philanthropy. MVHS has a bold plan for the Wynn Hospital – a plan that we believe in. We are proud to make this gift to advance the project even further and help ensure better health outcomes and an enhanced quality of life for the community."
