The center will use the funds to make capital improvements, increase access to urgent orthopedic trauma care, and strengthen support for experts in the care of fractures, orthopedic trauma injuries, and hand and upper extremity disorders. Through the hospital's Emergency Department and Trauma Program, the funds also will support twenty-four-hour care for children with orthopedic injuries. CHLA, the only freestanding Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center in Los Angeles County, annually provides $316.2 million in community benefits to children and families across the region.
"I am honored and grateful to partner with the Wyss Foundation to protect the most precious and most vulnerable members of our community — our children," said CHLA president and CEO Paul S. Viviano. "Children's Hospital Los Angeles strives to create hope and build healthier futures for children, a mission that is shared by Hansjörg Wyss. This generous gift advances CHLA’s ability to provide world-class clinical care for those who need it the most."
