To create a comprehensive resource for community foundation leaders; offer ongoing research, training, and education for the field; and provide an interactive community of foundation staff, trustees, and experts.
Purpose of Site:
To provide up-to-date information on the institute's programs, research, and educational materials.
Developed with a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the Community Foundations Institute (CFI) is the result of efforts by the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University and the Professional Development Action Team of the Council on Foundations Community Foundation Leadership Team to develop a comprehensive resource for the community foundation field. CFI offers ongoing education, research, and training for community foundation leaders, trustees, and staff to help address key management challenges. Housed within the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University in Indianapolis, Indiana, the institute is committed to working in partnership with community foundations across the United States and internationally.
The well-organized page efficiently provides an introduction to the work of this new and still developing resource for community foundations. Major site areas include informative overviews on the institute's goals, educational offerings, and coming features.
Based on the U.S. Standards for Community Foundations, the Competency Guide for Community Foundation Professionals provides information on specific subject areas related to the work and operations of community foundations.
The site's contact form provides a convenient way for constituents to offer their comments and suggestions as well as recommendations for the institute's soon-to-come Resource Database and Library. The page also thoughtfully provides complete "traditional" contact information for the institute and its partner organizations.
