Mission: To help nonprofits in the metro Omaha region fulfill their missions.
Background: Launched in 2019 with a gift from the Suzanne & Walter Scott Foundation, SHARE Omaha is a one-stop shop for donors in the greater Omaha area looking to discover, support, or serve local area nonprofits. With the goal of providing an open and inclusive platform that amplifies the needs of the entire Omaha nonprofit community and gives all organizations a chance to be seen and heard, regardless of cause, size, or budget, the site (like its sister site, SHARE Charlotte) welcomes listings from any local nonprofit, as long as it is a registered 501(c)(3) with a valid Employment Identification Number (EIN); has been established for at least a year; serves Dodge, Douglas, Sarpy, Saunders, or Washington counties in Nebraska, or Pottawattamie, Harrison, or Mills counties in Iowa; has a working website; and is not a church, school, or club.
Outstanding Web Features: Visitors to the site looking to support a nonprofit can search more than two hundred organizations currently listed on the site by keyword and/or filter their results by population served, broad subject area, and/or cause. A simple button under each listing makes it easy for visitors to jump to an organization-specific donation page, and for people who worry how their donations might be used, the site makes it easy to donate specific items that nonprofits say they need. Visitors to the site can also search for volunteer opportunities by opportunity type, skill set, activity, location, and organization size; learn more about the organization's listed via the site's blog; browse a listing of upcoming nonprofit events in the area; check out what the media has been saying about SHARE Omaha; and/or take the #ShareitForward Challenge.
