Founded in 1962, the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation works with generous and visionary citizens to maximize the power of their giving, support great work happening in local communities, and lead and collaborate on high-impact initiatives.
To that end, the foundation welcomes applications for its Christa McAuliffe Sabbatical program. Through the program, an exceptional New Hampshire public school teacher is awarded a year-long leave of absence and provided with the time, space, and funding to explore, through a self-designed project, new ideas and ways to enhance classroom teaching. The award is equivalent to a full year’s salary plus FICA and project expenses of up to $12,000.
To be eligible, applicants must be a current, full-time classroom teacher (as defined by contract) in a New Hampshire public school, have at least five years of classroom teaching experience within the state, and hold a valid New Hampshire teaching certificate with the appropriate endorsement(s) for their current assignment.
See the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation website for complete program guidelines, application instructions, and information about previous recipients.
