The Minger Family Endowment Fund at the Manistee County Community Foundation works to improve recreational opportunities and access to recreation in Michigan’s Manistee County through the maintenance and/or expansion of existing facilities and the acquisition or development of new facilities.
To advance this mission, the foundation welcomes applications for projects located in Manistee County that will benefit residents of Manistee County. The foundation has identified the following priorities:
Trail Acquisition and Development — Trail acquisition and trail development that leads to improved connectivity of the trail system in Manistee County and connectivity to adjacent trail systems outside the county. This includes both non-motorized and motorized trails.
Indoor Active and/or Outdoor Winter Recreation Opportunities — Projects that increase opportunities for indoor active and/or outdoor winter-based recreation. These include both outdoor and indoor facilities and amenities such as exercise facilities and community centers.
Water and Fishing Access Sites — Creation of new or improved existing water access or fishing access sites that increase connectivity of existing water trails and/or address gaps in access. Examples include kayak, canoe, or boat launches and onshore fishing opportunities.
Grants of between $5,001 and $100,000 over two years will be awarded. A minimum of 10 percent match is required, and additional matching is encouraged (and may include grants from other sources, donations, and in-kind donations such as the value of donated material or labor).
Eligible applicants include those that are tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, school districts, units of government, including recognized tribal governments, and other tax-exempt organizations. MCCF may make grants to faith-based organizations or religious institutions for services that address community needs or that enhance the quality of life for all citizens.
The first step in applying for a grant is to submit a completed grant inquiry form (available on the MCCF website). MCCF staff will send notification within two weeks regarding the eligibility of the project and will provide a link to an application form if the project is considered eligible for funding.
Invited applications will be due June 15.
See the Manistee County Community Foundation website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
