KidsGardening.org Accepting Applications for School Botany Grants

KidsGardening.org, in partnership with the Klorane Botanical Foundation, is accepting applications to its Budding Botanist Grant program, which aims to help youth learn about plants, explore the plant world, and care for all the different forms of life they encounter in their local ecosystems.

In 2018, six grant packages valued at $3,000 (cash and supplies) will be awarded in six metro areas across the United States (Chicago, Kansas City, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.) to support a new or existing school garden program that is designed to teach students about environmental sustainability and the importance of biodiversity. Each grant recipient will receive a package of tools and educational materials valued at $500 along with a check for $2,500 to spend on the materials needed to install a new, or expand an existing, school garden.

In addition to the award packages, grant recipients will become members of the KidsGardening Fellows Program and receive opportunities to promote their programs, network with other grant winners, seek personalized guidance from KidsGardening education specialists, and receive a special quarterly newsletter.

Any Title I public or charter school located within fifteen miles of one of the six target cities listed above and serving students in grades K-12 is eligible to apply.

See the KidsGardening.org website for complete program guidelines and application instructions.
