The mission of the Emma Barnsley Foundation is to promote the prevention of cruelty to animals and the study, care, protection, and preservation of animals, both domestic and wild, and their habitats.
To that end, the foundation, which is administered by Wells Fargo, awards grants of up to $20,000 to nonprofit organizations working to aid and assist in the prevention of cruelty to animals; aid and assist in the care, protection, and preservation of animals and the habitats in which they live; assist institutions of higher learning in Texas in the operation and maintenance of courses of study in veterinary medicine and the study of animals and animal life; provide scholarships for the study of veterinary medicine at any institution of higher learning in Texas; and support research projects involving ecological, environmental, and wildlife studies.
To be eligible, organizations must qualify as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Priority will be given to organizations that operate in the Crane/Midland/Odessa, Texas, area or in the New York City area, as well as to colleges and universities, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, Primarily Primates, The Fund for Animals, Defenders of Wildlife, and the National Geographic Society.
